Jack L. Gray painting

Jack L. Gray painting

Rare palm beach painting

Jack L. Gray (1927 - 1981) is recognized as one of the foremost Canadian painters of the 20th century. Born in Nova Scotia, he focused on the struggles of men on the sea. Jack L. Gray also lived in West Palm Beach aboard his boat.  This painting Running Free is a fine example of the challenges at sea. The gray clouds off to the right show an ominous change in the weather. The setting for this painting, moreover, marks a distinct period in his work. Unlike the Nova Scotia paintings, this one is clearly set in the waters off the coast of Florida. This painting is signed and has been authenticated by a Palm Beach art dealer.
